These guys have really been dragging ass on their fifth album. The first single, “Halfway Gone,” released in late October. Hopefully this means that we’re getting close.

I can’t help myself. Creatively mixed metaphors and double entendres set to ridiculously bright, casio-style accompaniment always makes me smile. Isn’t that the point? Proven (yet again): the middle east is the place to go for decent electronic music. Israeli duo “Infected Mushroom” easily demonstrates that techno music doesn’t have to be comprised of cheesy or boring repetitive loops. It can be deep, intricate, interesting and even challenging. I’ve been a huge fan for nearly a decade, ever since [...] No matter how bad your life seems, these guys can make you feel better. With lyrics about self loathing, alcohol abuse, suicide, my-daddy-never-loved-me issues, and my-ex-girlfriend-cut-out-my-heart-fried-it-up-in-a-pan-ate-it-puked-it-onto-the-floor-and-jumped-up-and-down-on-top-of-it goodness. These guys are something of a guilty pleasure for me — definitely not for everyone. Something about their raw garage-type energy, combined with an unexpected production value, makes my foot go tap, tap, tap. You know what would be cool? If I could use my fortune to establish a prize for doing nothing! Imagine it… "And the Nobel Prize for doing Jack Shit goes to…" Maybe I’m just too young to realize that it’s always been effed up this way, but when I was a kid, I used to [...] If you don’t already own this staple, you should be taken out back and shot. I bought their digital box set a while back, and this album was definitely the best of the bunch. |
